These luxurious mobile camping safaris to Botswana offer adventure in lavish comfort. Your guides will be some of the most highly qualified professional guides and most experienced naturalists in Botswana.

Tents

Whilst on a luxury camping safari to Botswana you will stay in very comfortable, twin-bedded accommodation in spacious, insect-proof Meru-style tents which measure 6 x 6 metres. In every tent you will find a battery-operated lamp, wind-up torch, insect repellent, hanging canvas shelves for clothing storage, floor rugs, towels and toiletries, including soap and shampoos.

Each tent has an en suite bathroom with a roof. The bathrooms are permanently attached to the tents and enclose a bucket shower and a toilet.

You will have a private veranda has comfortable canvas chairs for you to relax in during the heat of the day. Outside the tents are canvas wash basins which are filled with hot water first thing in the morning and when you return from dusty game drives. There is also a mirror here and hanging canvas 'bathroom cupboard' for your toilet items.

Luxury mobile camp and camp team

The members of the experienced camp staff are available throughout the day to attend to your every need and ensure your comfort at all times. You will not be expected to participate in any camp duties, allowing for complete relaxation.

As you wake to your tranquil wilderness surroundings in the early morning, wash basins filled with hot water are placed outside your tents; and then you gather for a light breakfast before embarking on a new day of adventure. On returning to the camp after your morning activity, you will be treated to an excellent brunch, after which there is time for relaxation. Afternoon tea and a further activity are followed by cold drinks and snacks around the campfire, and then a delicious dinner. Three-course meals are taken in a separate dining tent on a fully laid out table. The camp team pride themselves on offering you delicious cuisine.

After dinner, the traditional campfire surrounded by comfortable canvas chairs makes for a great evening spot to talk over the day's safari adventures, swap travellers' tales, and enjoy a selection of delicious drinks before sinking into your comfortable bed.

There is a dining tent where meals are served, but, because of the excellent weather and wonderful skies, dinner is often served in the open beneath the stars. The safari chef prepares all meals with fresh ingredients and bakes fresh bread daily. Sumptuous three-course bush dinners, guaranteed to satisfy any appetite, are served in style at a beautifully laid table and accompanied by fine South African wines.

Vehicles

These luxury camping safaris to Botswana are conducted in open 4WD Toyota Land Cruisers with 9 passenger seats. For your safety and comfort, these have been custom-built by specialists in safari vehicle modifications. Each vehicle is canopied, seats a maximum of eight passengers and is fitted with padded individual bucket seats. Snacks and ice-cold drinks are kept in a cool box and are available on all drives.

Charging batteries

Each vehicle is fitted with an inverter and plugs allowing travellers the opportunity to charge batteries whilst on safari using the standard two-pin charger that is usually supplied when you buy electrical equipment. If you do not have a two-pin charger, we recommend you purchase and adaptor. Botswana uses plugs with 3 large round pins - the same plug that is used in South Africa. It is relatively easy to find an adaptor for use in South Africa which would also work in Botswana.

The plugs on the vehicles are only to be used to recharge necessary items such as camera batteries; they are not to be used for charging electric toothbrushes or mobile phones.

Whilst on the Botswana Wilderness & Walking Safari, it will be possible to charge batteries during your stay at Khwai Tented Camp (Days 2-4). Batteries can only be charged whilst the camp's generator is running which is only whilst guests are out on activities. We recommend that you always travel with a spare battery for use whilst the other is charging.
