Day 1 - Flight to Botswana

The Botswana Wilderness & Walking Safari begins with a scheduled overnight flight between London and Maun in Botswana, via Johannesburg.

Dinner is included on the flight.

Days 2 to 4 - Khwai

On arrival at Maun Airport in Botswana you are met and transferred onto a light aircraft for a 40-minute flight over the Okavango Delta. You will be met at the airstrip by your safari guide and vehicle, and taken on a game drive to the semi-permanent luxury mobile camp set on a private site in the Khwai community area. This community-run private reserve forms the eastern border of the Moremi Game Reserve, divided only by the Khwai River. The river is the sole source of water for miles around and consequently attracts high concentrations of wildlife from far a-field. The surrounding vegetation is made up of great stands of leadwood and mopane woodland which line the wide floodplain and the banks of the river. It is home to a high density and diversity of predator and prey species. Lion are relatively common here whilst leopard love the thick riverine woodland habitat and are often spotted on a night safari drive.

You will spend three nights at the Khwai Tented Camp on the banks of this life-supporting river. A small mobile safari camp, it has only four luxury tents, each with an en-suite bush bathroom complete with toilet and bucket shower. Your focus here is searching out wildlife, big and small, with your safari guide in open 4WD vehicles.

There are no fences between the Khwai community area and Moremi Game Reserve so the wildlife wanders freely between the reserves. However, being outside Moremi allows you the opportunity to enjoy a guided walk or a spotlit night drive in addition to the usual game drives - walks and night drives are not allowed within Botswana's national parks.

Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Days 5 to 7 - Linyanti Walking Camps

After a short game drive to Khwai airstrip, you board a light aircraft for a 50-minute flight to the Chobe Enclave, a private reserve that borders the western boundary of Chobe National Park. Chobe Enclave stands on the edge of the Linyanti marshes which have been largely dry for many years. In 2008 heavy summer rains in the catchments of the Kwando and Linyanti rivers, combined with shifting fault lines, caused the Linyanti River to flow into the marshes, and it looks like the water is there to stay for a while. The open marshland attracts herds of elephant and buffalo at certain times of the year whilst countless bird species are always present. Along the marsh edge is a stretch of riverine woodland and areas of tall cathedral mopane trees which offer cover for the shyer animals, including leopard and roan antelope. Further back from the marshland, thicker mopane woodland and open clearings are the perfect habitats for many other animal species including wild dog and lion.

You spend three nights here on the only true mobile walking safari available in Botswana. Accommodation is in spacious en-suite tents with comfortable beds. Distances walked each day will vary depending on your interests and what you find - there's always plenty to see, so expect an energetic walk, but not a route march! The camp is likely to move at least once during your stay depending on where the wildlife action is. This is a fantastic way for adventurous safari goers to explore a wild and remote wilderness area on foot, with an experienced and knowledgeable guide who will interpret and bring to life every aspect of the Botswana bush.

Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 8 - Flight to London

You will enjoy a morning game drive to the airstrip before boarding a light aircraft back to Maun arriving in time to catch your scheduled international flight from Botswana to the UK.

Includes breakfast, lunch and dinner.
