Although children of all ages are welcome on the Exlusive Kalahari & Okavango Safari and there are no age restriction as such, parents must be aware that there are dangerous animals in the area and that the mobile safari camp is unfenced. Proper supervision of children remains the parent's responsibility. Please also note that Botswana is a malaria area and we will always recommend malaria prophylaxis which might not be suitable for very young children.
Children between the age of 2 and 12 years receive a discount of approximately 20% on the quoted adult price.
Luggage
The Exclusive Kalahari & Okavango Safari includes two light aircraft transfers. The maximum luggage limit on these flights, and therefore the safari, is 20kg per person including reasonable camera equipment. Your luggage must be packed in small squashable bags. This is seldom a problem as light, casual clothing is all that is needed except in the winter months (June to August) when we recommend you pack at least one warm jacket and a thick jumper or fleece.
Costs
This exclusive camping safari to Botswana includes, transport in a custom-built safari vehicle and transfers in a light aircraft; accommodation in a rustic yet comfortable mobile camp; camping equipment; private campsite fees; the services of a knowledgeable guide and usually three meals a day.
Drinks
During your safari, drinks such as mineral water, soft drinks, gin, beer and wine are included. If you have a preferred tipple that is not included in this list we can take requests and for a nominal fee, ensure that there is plenty to last the trip.
Whilst in Maun, house wine is usually included with your evening meal but all other drinks are for your own account. This bill is to be settled directly with the lodge before you depart (Day 5).
Torches
The Kalahari and Santantadibe mobile camps will be lit by paraffin or oil lamps each evening. An LED lantern will be supplied in each tent. We strongly recommend that you also take with you a good head torch which will let you read a book or catch up with your safari journal at night. We suggest you spend a little money on this essential safari item to avoid a lot of potential frustration in the bush.
Laundry
A limited laundry service is offered during full days in camp. Clothes will be hand washed only and the service will depend on the availability of water and on the weather. If you would like items laundered please mention this to your guide or one of the camp team. For cultural reasons we ask you not to include smalls in your laundry. Water and washing powder can be made available to you should you wish to wash these yourself.
Special requests
If you have any dietary requirements, special requests medical conditions that you would like us to be aware of we ask that you tell us well in advance. A good way to do this is to note these in the 'Special Requests' box made available on the booking form.
Whilst we cannot always guarantee a special request the safari operators and lodges will always try hard to help.
