Costs
The Khwai & Nai Pan Safari includes scheduled international flights between London and Botswana, via Johannesburg with South African Airways; all wildlife drives in a custom-built safari vehicle; all mentioned transfers by road or by light aircraft; accommodation in a top safari camp or in luxury mobile camps; all camping equipment; private campsite and park entrance fees; the services of a professional guide and welcoming camp staff and usually three meals a day.
Luggage
This safari to Botswana includes two light aircraft transfers between safari camps. The maximum luggage limit on these flights is 20kg per person including reasonable camera equipment. Your luggage should be packed in soft squashable bags - no hard suitcases or bags with wheels can be accepted as they cannot be manoeuvred into the luggage compartment. The maximum dimensions of the soft bags are 25cm wide x 30cm high x 62cm long. Please keep in mind that the baggage compartments on the light aircraft are only 30cm high.
This is not usually problematic as casual clothing is all that is needed. Warmer clothing is recommended during the winter months (June to August). Speak to us if the luggage restrictions are concerning you. For an additional cost we may be able to book you an extra 'seat' to allow for extra luggage allowance.
Please also note that the light aircraft companies assume a maximum weight of 98kg for men and 80kg for women when calculating permissible loads and scheduling their flights accordingly. If you or any member of your party exceeds these limits, please let us know so that we can advise the aircraft companies. In these instances it may be necessary to book of additional seats (at extra cost) for safety reasons.
Laundry
When spending more than one night at a safari camp or luxury mobile tented camp, a basic laundry service is offered and included in the price.
Drinks
A good variety of beverages are usually included whilst on safari, including but not restricted to: mineral water, soft drinks, gin, vodka, beer and wine. If you have a preference for a particular drink then let us know as we will let the safari operator know to ensure that there is plenty made available to you throughout the safari.
Torches
The luxury mobile camps on the Khwai & Nxai Pan Botswana Safari will be lit by paraffin or oil lanterns after dark. A rechargeable lantern and a wind-up torch will also be supplied in your safari tent.
Special requests
If you have any dietary requirements, special requests medical conditions that you would like us to be aware of we ask that you tell us well in advance. Whilst we are not always able to guarantee a special request, our colleagues in Africa will always try hard to help.
Passport and Visa requirements
It is our current understanding that travellers on British, American, Canadian, New Zealand and Australian passports do not need visas for South Africa or Botswana. You will require a visa for Zambia. Visa fees for entering Zambia are currently US$50 per person for a single entry and US$80 for a multiple entry. The visa fee is payable in US Dollars cash on arrival at Zambian Immigration. That said, it remains your responsibility to double check these details with the nearest relevant embassy to you.
It is a requirement that you check that your passport will have at least six months left to run when you travel, we recommend a validity of nine months to prevent any problems. You should also ensure that you will have at least 3 clean pages for each time that you pass through customs (these must be visa pages, not pages for amendments and endorsements which are usually at the back of a passport). Most countries require this, and we have had recent reports of South Africa actively enforcing this restriction - and refusing entry to those who don't comply. (If you will be passing through customs in more than one country, you need to make sure that you have sufficient blank pages for entry and exit stamps at each destination.)
