The Okavango & Chobe Wildlife Adventure is conducted in English.

Costs

This comfortable camping safari to Botswana includes scheduled, overnight international flights to Maun in Botswana, via Johannesburg in South Africa; transport in a custom-built safari vehicle or a light aircraft; accommodation at Elephant Camp in Zimbabwe and comfortable mobile safari camps in Botswana; national park fees and usually three meals a day as specified in the itinerary.

An airport departure tax of about US Dollars $30 per person is payable when departing Victoria Falls Airport on Day 12 of the safari.

Drinks

Whilst on safari in Botswana and at Elephant Camp in Zimbabwe, a complimentary bar offering a good variety of drinks is included. Bottled mineral water is always available to you throughout the safari adventure.

Whilst in Maun on Day 2 of the adventure, drinks will be for your own account. These can be paid for in US Dollars and we recommend you travel with small denominations as the lodge may not have a lot of change available.

Luggage

The Okavango & Chobe Wildlife Adventure includes two light aircraft transfers between safari camps. The maximum luggage limit on these flights, and therefore the safari, is 20kg per person including reasonable camera equipment. All luggage must be packed in soft squashable bags - no hard suitcases or bags with wheels can be transported as they physically cannot fit into the aircraft. The maximum dimensions of the soft bags which can be accommodated are as follows: 25cm wide x 30cm high and 62cm long.

Speak to us if the luggage restrictions are concerning you because for an additional cost we may be able to book an extra 'seat' to allow for extra luggage allowance.

Passengers weighing 100kg or more, or two guests travelling together whose combined weight is 200kg, must advise us in advance please as an extra seat for the additional weight will have to be costed in to the package for safety purposes.

Laundry

A laundry service is only available at Elephant Camp on Day 11 of the Okavango & Chobe Wildlife Adventure. This is a complimentary service.

Tipping

Tipping is not compulsory. If, however, you want to tip because you have received good service, we recommend a discretionary US Dollars $10 per person per day for your safari guide, US Dollars $7 per person per day for mokoro polers and US Dollars $7 per person per day for the camp staff at the mobile adventure safari camps. The latter should be placed in the communal tipping box to be distributed equally amongst all the staff.

Visa and passport requirements

Travellers on British, American, Australian and New Zealand passports do not require visas to travel through South Africa or Botswana. You will require a visa for Zimbabwe. Visa fees for entering Zimbabwe are currently US Dollars $55 per person for anyone on a British Passport and US Dollars $32 per person for other nationalities for a single entry. The visa fee is currently payable in US Dollars cash on arrival at Zimbabwean Immigration. Alternatively you can contact the nearest embassy to you in order to arrange a visa in advance.

Please note that it remains your responsibility to check all visa requirements with their nearest relevant embassies or high commissions before travel as this information is subject to change at any time.

For travel to these countries your passport must have at least six months left to run when you travel. You should also ensure that you will have at least 3 clean pages for each time that you pass through customs (these must be visa pages, not pages for amendments and endorsements which are usually at the back of a passport). Most countries require this, and we have had recent reports of South Africa actively enforcing this restriction - and refusing entry to those who don't comply.

Notes

Vaccines: It has recently been brought to our attention that on arrival in Zimbabwe you might be asked to produce a Yellow Fever Certificate. Any visitor who has been to a country where yellow fever exists must present a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate on arrival, or face vaccination at a cost. Please make sure that you have been vaccinated against Yellow Fever and that you travel with all your documentation. Please contact your GP or nearest Travel Clinic for more information.

It is a condition of booking that you arrange adequate travel insurance for your holiday. At minimum this should include comprehensive cover for medical emergencies, including repatriation to your home country. We strongly recommend that you also arrange cancellation insurance, cover for any activities which you hope to do during your holiday, and cover for your personal possessions, travel documents and delayed baggage. We can offer travel insurance to residents of the UK or Republic of Ireland; please ask us for more information. We cannot offer travel insurance for travellers who live outside of the UK / Republic of Ireland; we ask that you arrange travel insurance with a company in your home country.
