Botswana is well known for the lushly vegetated wetlands of the Okavango Delta and the remarkable wildlife found there. This camping safari adventure allows you to experience this paradise in combination with the productive wildlife areas of the north and the less-known, but no-less-spectacular, Deception Valley in the Kalahari Desert.
Guide
The Okavango & Desert Adventure is led by an experienced and fully trained professional safari guide. S/he is very knowledgeable and will be able to name all the animals and birds you see as well as most of the plants, often adding tidbits of information that you'd never expected to discover.
Accommodation
Whilst in Zambia on the first day of your safari adventure, you will overnight at a comfortable lodge overlooking the Zambezi River.
From Day 3 to Day 10 in Botswana, you will stay in comfortable mobile safari camps which utilise spacious 3 x 3 metre dome tents, each with a small veranda. The simply styled interior is made up of twin stretcher-beds with canvas bedrolls, cotton bed linen and duvets, towels, small bedside table and 12V lamp. Each tent has an en suite open-air 'bush' bathroom with a short-drop toilet, table with hand basin and a bucket shower.
A 5 x 5 metre tent with metal and canvas camp chairs is set up to provide shade and sheltered dining in the unlikely event of rain. Tasty, fresh meals are prepared over the camp fire by the chef and enjoyed at a table set with stainless-steel tableware under a shady tree or the open night sky.
On Day 11 of the safari you will overnight at the very comfortable Deception Valley Lodge. Accommodation will be in spacious thatched cottages each with an en suite bathroom and linked to the main area by board walks.
On Days 12 & 13 of your safari adventure you will stay at the relatively new Kalahari Plains Camp situated close to the renowned Deception Valley itself. Accommodation is in spacious walk-in tents built up on platforms each with a view over the surrounding desert environment.
Vehicles
The Okavango & Desert Adventure is conducted in a custom-built 4WD safari vehicle with open sides designed for all-round visibility.
