DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1 – Flight to Botswana
Your holiday to Botswana begins with a scheduled overnight flight from London, via Johannesburg, to Maun: the gateway to the Okavango Delta.

Day 2 – Maun
On arrival you are met and driven to Motsentsela Tree Lodge where you can relax after your flight. This delightful tented lodge is situated on a small private game farm on the outskirts of Maun. You can spend the afternoon by the pool, or stroll around some of the property’s marked nature trails. The reserve is home to game species including springbok, kudu, zebra and giraffe.

Day 3 & 4 – Okavango Delta
After a leisurely breakfast at Motsentsela you transfer back to Maun to meet your guide and the rest of the group. From here you take a light aircraft for the flight into the Okavango Delta to begin the safari part of your holiday to Botswana.

Spend two nights at a mobile safari camp located within Nxabega, an exclusive 70km2 private wildlife reserve. Nxabega boasts a variety of wildlife. Spend your time here exploring the area on safari drives, gliding through the papyrus-edged waterways by mekoro and boat, and enjoy investigating the small, vegetated islands on foot.

Day 5 & 6 – Moremi Game Reserve
Continue by light aircraft to Khwai, the North Gate region of Moremi Game Reserve. Set aside for protection in 1962 by the BaTawana tribe, the Reserve is considered to be Africa's most beautiful wildlife sanctuary.

The Okavango Delta is a unique ecosystem, an inland delta situated in the middle of the largest stretch of continuous sand in the world – the Kalahari basin. Moremi encompasses a large area of the Okavango Delta’s eastern wetlands. Near the north-eastern edge of Moremi Game Reserve, the waterways of the Okavango gradually narrow and are spanned by a wooden pole-bridge. The tracks that run beside the river and around the floodplains here are often stunning in their beauty and prolific in their wildlife.

Day 7 & 8 – Savuti
A 5 to 6-hour game drive takes you to Savuti – excellent for viewing lion and other predators – where you will spend two nights camping in a private mobile camp next to the dry Savuti Channel. Depending on the time of the year, huge animal concentrations are attracted to this area.

Savuti is one of Africa’s most famous big-game areas, with an atmosphere all of its own. Key to this area is the Savuti Channel, which sometimes flows from the Linyanti’s waterways and into the heart of the Chobe National Park, flooding the Savuti Marsh. This channel’s flow is unpredictable; it has appeared and then dried up again several times over the past few centuries. The marsh has been dry since 1981 and is now a vast, open grassland dotted with the skeletons of drowned trees. Attracted by the area’s particularly nutritious grasses, much game passes through Savuti on annual migrations between Botswana’s dry interior and the rivers of the north and west.

Day 9 & 10 – Chobe National Park
It’s a 4 to 5-hour game drive from Savuti to northern Chobe. Chobe National Park encompasses 11,700km2 of wilderness, bordered in the north by the Chobe River, and buffered on all sides by private concessions and forest reserves allowing for the free movement of game. You will spend two nights of your Botswana holiday here at a private mobile safari camp in the Serondela area of the national park.

As well as being renowned for its large variety of bird and animal life, beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets, northern Chobe is the heart of elephant and buffalo country and on game drives you may spend many hours watching the huge herds as they make their way to drink at Chobe River’s edge. Two species of region-specific antelope occur here, the puku and the Chobe bushbuck, which cannot be seen in other parts of Botswana. There is also time to enjoy a stunning boat cruise on the Chobe River: enjoy the coolness of being on the water while spotting the colourful water-birds, from fish eagles to a multitude of herons and waders.

Day 11 – Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
From Chobe National Park it is just a short drive to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, where you stay overnight at Matetsi Water Lodge in twin-bedded rooms with private facilities with dinner, breakfast, scheduled activities, refreshments on game drives and laundry all included. The Lodge is situated on the banks of the Zambezi River in a 450km2 wildlife concession, and, after a tour of the spectacular Victoria Falls, you are free to enjoy its varied entertainments and facilities.

Day 12 – Flight to London
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Victoria Falls Airport where your holiday to Botswana and Zimbabwe ends.

Day 13 – Arrive in London
