DETAILED ITINERARY:
Day 1 – Flight to Botswana
Scheduled overnight flight from London, via Johannesburg, to Maun: Botswana’s gateway to the Okavango Delta.
Day 2 – Maun
On arrival you are met and driven to Motsentsela Tree Lodge to relax after your flight. This delightful tented
lodge is situated on a small private game farm on the outskirts of Maun. Named after the wild plum tree which
forms the centre piece to this delightful lodge, it is a lovely spot in which to relax to get over your flight:
spend the afternoon by the pool or stroll around some of the property’s marked nature trails. The reserve is home
to game species including springbok, kudu, zebra and giraffe.
|
 |
Day 3 – Moremi Game Reserve
After a leisurely breakfast at Monsentsela, you return to Maun Airport. From here a light aircraft takes you on a
flight of approximately 30 minutes over the Okavango Delta to Xakanaxa. On arrival at the airstrip you will be
met by your private guide and vehicle and taken on a game drive to your camp, which is situated in the Third
bridge/Xakanaxa area of the Delta.
The Moremi Game Reserve covers 3,900km², and is situated in the eastern area of the Okavango Delta. It is a
unique ecosystem and one of the greatest game reserves in all of Africa. The Okavango Delta has a great variety
of wildlife and lush habitats and is a must visit on any safari to Botswana. All the major predators are found
here, as well as elephant, buffalo, hippo, giraffe, waterbuck, red lechwe and many more.
|
Day 4 & 5 – Moremi Game Reserve
The environments in this area vary from dense bush and tall riverine woodland to open flood plains and palm
fringed lagoons. Activities include safari drives, boat rides and trips by mekoro (traditional dug-out canoe),
which take you into the very heart of the delta where you can explore its many channels, waterways and islands.
Bird life is abundant here with over 400 species recorded in the area.
Day 6 – Okavango Delta, island night
After three days of exploring in and around the dry land regions of Moremi Game Reserve, you set off for your
next camp, which is situated on an island in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Your boat transfer takes you
through sparkling lagoons and twisty narrow channels, lined with evergreen trees such as water figs and African
mangosteens, and the ever-present papyrus reed banks.
|
After stopping for a picnic lunch on a sandbank you will continue until you reach the island where you will spend
the night fly camping under the spectacular African sky. Accommodation here will be in smaller tents with
comfortable camp stretcher-beds, bedrolls, bed linen, duvets and towels. Facilities are not en-suite. Between
every two tents there’s a small enclosure with a bucket shower filled with water at your chosen temperature when
needed, and an enclosure with a ‘bush’ toilet.
Day 7, 8 & 9 – Chobe Enclave
After a last game drive through Moremi Game Reserve to Xakanxa Airstrip, a light aircraft will take you to a
private concession area known as the Chobe Enclave which borders Chobe National Park.
|
 |
Your destination is Linyanti Bush Camp, a small, intimate 12-bedded tented camp on the banks of the Linyanti
Swamps, in a private reserve which borders the western boundary of Chobe in the Chobe Enclave. This Botswana
safari camp provides the perfect atmosphere for a superb safari experience in tranquil surroundings of
understated luxury. Activities from the camp include game drives, walking and spot lit night drives.
The Linyanti Swamps are one of the most attractive areas in the park. They provide the only source of water in
the dry months, so as a consequence are visited by a great diversity of game. The area is best known for its
large populations of elephant and buffalo that congregate there in vast numbers, especially during the dry
season. At Linyanti you may well spot lion, sable, roan, leopard, wild dog, and any number of the plains game.
Day 10 – Flight to London
There is time for a final morning activity before a light aircraft takes you back to Maun, in time to catch your
scheduled international flight to the UK.
Day 11 – Arrive in London
