Usual group size: min 2 / max 9 passengers
Age of travellers: min 12 / max 100 years old
Family groups with children under the age of 12 years can book the Specialist Kaokoland Safari on a private basis. Speak to us about available dates.
There is no maximum age limit. However, travellers need to be reasonably fit as the safari includes some walking excursions - although these will be informative strolls rather than hikes or route marches.
Joining the safari
The Specialist Kaokoland Safari can easily be arranged as a stand-alone safari; in combination with another small-group Namibia safari or as an add-on to a self-drive or fly-in trip around Namibia. Speak to us for details.
Language
The Specialist Kaokoland Safari will be led in English.
Costs
The cost of the safari includes international flights from London in the UK, transport within Namibia, pre and post safari accommodation in Swakopmund, camping equipment, activities, three meals daily, additional snacks and refreshments, the services of a professional guide and time with natural history specialist - Steve Braine.
Drinks
A selection of mineral water and soft drinks are included throughout the day. In the evenings a small bar offering wine, beer and a selection of spirits is available.
Luggage
We request that when travelling in Namibia on this specialist safari you try to keep your luggage to a maximum of 20kg per person. This does not include a small day or camera bag. All personal items should be packed into soft squashable bags as large rigid suitcases are very unwieldy and difficult to store in the safari vehicle. We advise that you travel with a bag that is relatively dustproof so that your clothes remain dust free when travelling through Namibia's desert environment.
Laundry
A laundry service is not available on this short safari. The trip will travel through remote and arid in Kaokoland where water is a sought after commodity and used sparingly.
Torches
An LED lantern is supplied in each tent when staying at a mobile camp. In addition, we suggest that you travel with a good torch in case you need to move about the camp after dark. A head torch is often the most useful as it leaves your hands free. We recommend you spend a little money on this essential safari item to avoid a lot of potential frustration in the bush.
Special requests
If you have any special requests, dietary requirements or medical conditions that you would like us to be aware of we ask that you tell us well in advance. Whilst we cannot always guarantee a special request, we will always try hard to help or suggest suitable alternatives.
Tipping
Tipping is not compulsory and is to be done at your discretion if you feel you have received a good service. We offer the following guidelines for your information:
GBP £3-5 per person per day for your safari guide
GBP £2 per person per day for the camp team.
The latter should be placed in the communal tipping envelope kept by the guide to be distributed equally amongst all the staff.
Passport and Visa requirements
We are happy to help guide you regarding the latest visa and passport regulations for your Namibia Safari. However, it will remain your responsibility to get the latest passport and immigration requirements for the countries (including Namibia) you will visit or transit through whilst on holiday. Our current understanding is that British, American, Australian and New Zealand passport holders do not require a visa to travel to South Africa or Namibia. Your passport is required to be valid for at least 6 months after your holiday and you must have at least 3 blank pages for immigration stamps.
