Essential info Gallery

This camping adventure takes in three of Tanzania's most famous parks: the Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara and Serengeti National Park. Sleep in spacious dome tents and on comfortable mattresses, whilst sharing basic toilet and shower facilities at public campsites.

Guides

Your Tanzanian safari adventure will be lead by your own knowledgeable and passionate driver-guide, who has a wealth of experience in the bush. He will have a good knowledge of wildlife, birds and local culture and will also act as your camp host.

Tents

Throughout the Tanzania & Serengeti Camping Adventure you will sleep in spacious two-man dome tents which are 3 x 3 metres and made of strong green canvas. Each tent has a sewn-in groundsheet as well as mosquito-proof mesh over the windows and to cover the door. Every tent is furnished with twin mattresses on the floor, and sheets, sleeping bags, pillows and towels are provided.

Bathroom facilities

The bathroom facilities are very basic shared facilities at the various public campsites and they are maintained by the Tanzanian park authorities. This means that they can often be poorly looked after, but unfortunately we are not able to provide any separate facilities at these sites. There is either a flushing toilet with a proper seat, or a squat toilet. The shower is in a separate building and is cold running water. We recommend that you pack a roll of toilet paper and a box of wet wipes in your luggage as these can occasionally be useful here. It is also advisable to have flip flops for the shared showers.

Meals

Breakfast usually starts with a plate of fruit, followed by eggs of your choice, bacon and sausage. Tea, coffee and fruit juice are also on offer. You will often head out with a boxed lunch which usually includes pieces of barbecued chicken, samosas, sandwiches, fruit and a juice drink. This allows for the flexibility to stop en route to your next destination, or to head out on a full-day safari around the park. Or you may have lunch back at the camp, in which case expect fresh green salads, pasta, quiches and fruit. Dinner usually consists of three courses - a starter of soup, followed by a main such as roast chicken or stew, fresh seasonal vegetables, and finished off with a dessert such as fresh fruit or perhaps a mousse!

Vehicles

The vehicles used on these safaris are custom-made 4WD Toyota Land Cruisers. The pop-top roof allows for unobstructed game viewing and also provides some welcome shade. Each traveller is guaranteed a window seat, with one being at the front next to the driver. The connected driver-passenger compartments allows for great communication between the guide and his or her guests.

Camp team

The camp team is made up of the safari chef and camp assistant, who will travel with you on your safari. You carry your camping equipment with you, either on the roof of the vehicle or by trailer, and on arrival at the camp your chef and camp assistant will start cooking whilst you put up your own tents. Before departure from each camp you help to break down the tents, whilst the camp team packs up the vehicles or trailer.
