Usual group size: min 2 / max 14 passengers

Each vehicle used for these safaris to Tanzania takes up to seven guests, allowing each passenger has a 'window' seat. For groups of seven to fourteen guests, the camping safari will run in a convoy of two vehicles with two guides.

Single supplement: £254

For single travellers, a single supplement applies. If you are willing to share a twin room/tent with another traveller of the same gender we are able to waive the single supplement. However, if a suitable match cannot be made, the single supplement will apply. Each safari departure requires a minimum of two travellers to run, so if you are a single traveller contact us to find out if the safari you wish to join has other passengers already booked on therefore guaranteeing the departure.

Age of travellers: min 16 / max 100 years old

Due to the amount of time spent in vehicles on bumpy roads we recommend you consider its suitability if you are of the older age set. If you feel that you have the level of fitness and ability to put up with the rough roads you are welcome to contact us for a booking.

Luggage

The Tanzania & Serengeti Camping Adventure has a luggage limit of 15kg and we recommend using soft squashable bags as these are easier for packing in the safari vehicles. We also recommend taking comfortable, casual clothing in neutral safari colours. It is also advisable to take some warm clothes for cool mornings around the Ngorongoro Crater.

Costs

This adventurous camping safari includes scheduled international flights with Kenyan Airways via Nairobi; transport in a 4WD safari vehicle; accommodation in canvas dome tents; bedding and towels; current Tanzania park entrance fees; a knowledgeable driver-guide and usually three meals a day.

Drinks

All drinks with the exception of tea and coffee whilst in camp are an extra cost and payable locally. On your way out of Arusha your guide will stop at a supermarket and you will be able to purchase your drinks for the trip. Your group will buy a recommended amount of bottled water and each traveller can buy their own preferred drinks as well.

Torches

There will be lighting provided around the dining area of the camp, but no lighting for the individual tents. No torches are provided so we strongly recommend that you bring your own. We find that head torches are particularly useful as they allow you to have your hands free to get in and out of the tent.

Laundry

A laundry service is not available on this safari. However, if you bring along your own washing powder, a bucket and water can be made available to you should you wish to do a little hand washing during the holiday.

Special requests

If you have any dietary requirements, special requests, or medical conditions that you would like us to be aware of, we ask that you tell us well in advance. A good way to do this is to note these in the 'Special Requests' box made available on the booking form. Whilst we cannot guarantee a special request, the camp team will always try hard to help.

Charging batteries

Batteries can be charged using a converter in the vehicles - these are standard UK three large pins. Whilst in Arusha, standard plug outlets are also available.

Visa and passport requirements

The most recent information we have is that all travellers on British, American, Australian and New Zealand passports require visas to travel to Tanzania. Visa fees for entering Tanzania are currently US$50 per person for a single entry. The visa fee can be paid in US dollars cash on arrival at Tanzanian immigration, or arranged in advance at your nearest embassy or high commission.

The above notes are simply guidelines and should be taken as such. It remains your responsibility to double check these details with the nearest relevant embassy to you.

Wherever you travel in Africa, your passport should be valid for at least six months from your date of travel. You should also ensure that you will have at least three clear pages for each time that you pass through a country's customs and immigration. Please ensure that these are visa pages and not the pages for amendments and endorsements which are usually found towards the back of a passport.

Health

Typhoid, tetanus and polio vaccinations are advisable. Malaria is widespread, so start a course of anti-malaria tablets before you go. Any visitor who is coming from a country where yellow fever exists must present a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate on arrival, or face vaccination at a cost. Please contact your GP or nearest travel clinic for more information.
