Essential info

Usual group size: min 2 / max 14 passengers

This lodge safari requires a minimum of two passengers to depart and takes a maximum of fourteen. However, as there are only seven passenger seats in each car, you will only ever have seven people per vehicle. So in some cases your group may travel in a small convoy, with two separate vehicles and guides. At certain points during the day and in the evening you will all come together. That said, at these larger lodges the groups can split into smaller groups for meals or relaxation time if they want to.

Single supplement: £56

There is a supplement for single travellers to have their own room. Each safari requires a minimum of two travellers to run, so if you are a single traveler contact us to find out if the safari you wish to join has other passengers already booked on.

Age of travellers: min 0 / max 100 years old

There is no minimum or maximum age for this safari, though travellers should be aware that the roads are very bumpy at times and days can be quite long this trip would not be suitable for very young children or the elderly.

Luggage

There is a luggage limit of 15kg and we recommend using soft squashable bags as these are easier for packing in the vehicles. We recommend taking comfortable, casual clothing in neutral safari colours. It is also advisable to take some warm clothes for the much cooler mornings around the Ngorongoro Crater.

Costs

This safari around northern Tanzania includes scheduled international flights with Kenya Airways via Nairobi; transport in a 4WD safari vehicle; accommodation; current park entrance fees; a knowledgeable driver-guide and usually three meals a day.

Drinks

Tea and coffee at the lodges is included; all other drinks are an additional cost. When your safari group departs Arusha you will probably stop at a supermarket to pick up water for your days out on safari.

Torches

In the safari lodges there is electricity, but we would recommend taking a torch for walking between the rooms and the main areas after dark.

Laundry

A laundry service is available at an additional cost.

Special requests

If you have any dietary requirements, special requests or medical conditions that you would like us to be aware of for your lodge safari to Tanzania, we ask that you tell us well in advance. A good way to do this is to note these in the 'Special Requests' box made available on the booking form. Whilst we cannot guarantee a special request, the camp team will always try hard to help.

Charging batteries

Batteries can be charged at the safari lodges in Tanzania, which have charging points in the bedrooms. The sockets are UK-style plugs with three square pins.

Visa and passport requirements

The most recent information we have is that all travellers on British, American, Australian and New Zealand passports require visas to travel to Tanzania. Visa fees for entering Tanzania are currently US$50 per person for a single entry. The visa fee can be paid in US dollars cash on arrival at Tanzanian immigration or arranged in advance at your nearest embassy or high commission.

The above notes are simply guidelines and should be taken as such. It remains your responsibility to double check these details with the nearest relevant embassy to you.

Wherever in Africa you travel, your passport should be valid for at least six months from your date of travel. You should also ensure that you will have at least three clear pages for each time that you pass through a country's customs and immigration. Please ensure that these are visa pages and not the pages for amendments and endorsements, which are usually found towards the back of a passport.

Health

Typhoid, tetanus and polio vaccinations are advisable. Malaria is widespread, so start a course of anti-malaria tablets before you go. Any visitor who is coming from a country where yellow fever exists must present a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate on arrival, or face vaccination at a cost. Please contact your GP or nearest travel clinic for more information.
