Language

The Robin Pope Walking Safari is conducted in English.

Costs

This safari includes scheduled international flights between the UK and Zambia; domestic flights between Lusaka and Mfuwe; transport in a custom-built safari vehicle; accommodation in a lodge or safari camp for part of the safari and in comfortable mobile safari camps during the walking safari in South Luangwa National Park; national park fees and usually three meals a day as specified in the itinerary.

Flight Taxes

Please note that a charge of US Dollars $11 per person is payable on departure for internal flights in Zambia and US$5 for international flights. On this wildlife safari there are two internal flights and one international departure, totalling to an amount of US Dollars $27.

Drinks

A complimentary bar offering a good variety of drinks and including bottled mineral water is always available.

Single Travellers

There is no single supplement charged on the Robin Pope Walking Safaris. Solo travellers will always be assigned their own tent or room.

Luggage

There is a luggage limit of 15kg per person for bags to be checked in on the domestic flight transfers between Lusaka and Mfuwe. It is possible to travel with an additional 7kg hand luggage but as there are no baggage compartments in the aircraft this must be small enough to fit under the seat. All luggage should be packed into soft squashable bags in order to fit on these small planes - no large or hard cases will be accepted.

Laundry

A complimentary laundry service is available at Nkwali, Nsefu and Tena Tena Camps. Ladies undergarments cannot be washed by the camp staff for cultural reasons. However, a bowl of washing powder is made available in each room or tent to do a bit of hand washing.

Due to limited facilities whilst on the walking safari, laundry is not offered at the mobile camps. However, washing powder and a bucket can be made available to you on request.

Torches

Torches are provided in each room or safari tent on the Robin Pope Walking Safari.

Tipping

Tipping is not compulsory. If, however, you want to tip because you have received good service, we recommend a discretionary US Dollars $5 per person per day for your safari guide and the same again for the camp team. The latter should be given to camp management at the end of your stay to be shared out equally.

Visa and Passport Requirements

The most recent information we have is that travellers on British, American, Australian and New Zealand passports require a visa to visit Zambia. Visa currently cost US Dollars $50 per person for a single entry visa and US Dollars $80 for a multiple entry. The visa fee can be paid in US Dollars cash on arrival at Zambian immigration or arranged in advance at your nearest embassy or high commission.

The above notes are simply guidelines and should be taken as such. It remains your responsibility to double check these details with the nearest relevant embassy to you.

Wherever in Africa you travel to, your passport should be valid for at least six months from your travel date. You should also ensure that you will have at least 3 clear pages for each time that you pass through a country's customs and immigration. Please ensure that these are visa pages and not the pages for amendments and endorsements which are usually found towards the back of a passport.
