Safari to South Luangwa National Park

The lush Luangwa Valley, enclosed by steep escarpment walls, is one of Africa's finest wildlife safari areas. The first settlers to this area of Zambia recognized the verdant woodlands surrounding the Luangwa River as remarkable and officially made it a protected area in 1904. Now the South Luangwa National Park is Zambia's premier safari park.

The wildlife of South Luangwa National Park is famous for its abundance. You can expect to see huge herds of buffalo and large elephant families, antelope such as the prolific impala and puku or the more unusual eland and kudu, and predators like lion, leopard and occasionally wild dog. Of particular interest whilst on safari to South Luangwa National Park are three unique subspecies, only found in this part of Zambia: the beautiful Thornicroft's giraffe with its dark patterned skin, Crawshay's zebra and Cookson's wildebeest.

Safaris to South Luangwa National park are led by some of the best safari guides in the business. The area is particularly well known for its mobile walking safaris - walking with big game is an amazing safari experience; it's exhilarating to the point of addiction.
